My First

This was weeks/almost months in the making.

But I finally did it.

I made my first quilt!

Thank you, thank you.
(as I'm sure you are all cheering for me)

And what's even more unbeleivable is that there weren't any tears shed in the process.
Okay,
there may have been a few tears when I was laying it all out on the floor, and had all the squares where I wanted them, and my daughter came blowing in the room like a tornado and accidentally rearranged them all.
A few tears, and a near beating, and all is well.

I have always really loved the Whimsy line by Fig Tree, so I based the quilt around those few prints of that line that I have. I love that the blocks are somewhat random and don't really have to match at all. Some were even scraps that I had!

Let me tell you though, sewing ric rac to be 1/2 showing is quite a skill. I may have sewn and unpicked that a few times.

I already have a plan for my next quilt!
I loved this one.
Quilting is not as intimidating as I once thought it was.

And Camille does a fabulous job explaining the steps in her patterns.
This is the one I used, and it is available in the shop.
Don't let quilting scare you. It really is a lot of fun!

Good News & Bad News

Bad News:
Today was our last day for shop hours.

It was something I wanted to try out for the summer, but soon realized that appointments may work better for us all.

After all, it is hard to try and keep my kids sane for the 3 hours I am open.
Sad that they can't behave well for 3 hours, but true.

We are still open for you to make appointments to come over and shop around.

Mornings... afternoons... evenings... weekends...it all works. Just email me or call me to set up a time that you would like to come over and shop around.
I love having you come visit!

I love sharing my love/obsession for fabric with you!

Please don't be a stranger. Call anytime!

And now for the good news!

I finally finished a project I was working on.

This bag turned out so cute!
I wish I could have gotten a picture of my daughter with it slung over her shoulder.
Maybe tomorrow.
Too cute!

We carry this pattern in the shop.
I think it is my new favorite.
Not too hard, and the perfect amount of cutesy.

Happy Sewing!

Another Birthday Project

I am little late getting this posted,

okay, okay

a LOT late!

Summer is a busy time around here, as I am sure it is in your households. But boy are we loving it!

I wanted to make my little man a birthday sign, and I had seen so many cute one's done out of paper, that I thought fabric would be adorable too.

And it was!

I had a fabulous plan to hang it on his new swingset outside, but that darn winter weather that we were experiencing here (in june) didn't agree with me. We found a spot for it though.

♣I used all scraps. They didn't all match, but that was the fun of it!
♣I ironed some stiff interfacing to the back of the scraps, and then used my pinking shears to cut out the triangles.
♣I ironed on the letters, and didn't plan on stitching around them, but the white fabric was a little transparent and needed a little help. It still looked cute.
♣ Then I sewed some ric rac across the tops to string them together, and viola!
It is now folded up nicely in my closet waiting for his next birthday! I can't wait to make my daughter one for her upcoming special day!
